11 weeks Into Your Pregnancy

All About You | All About Your Baby | What Now?

All About You and Your Body!

Along with the regular symptoms that you may have been feeling through your pregnancy, you may notice that your hair, skin and nails are changing due to the hormones.

Since the placenta is starting to grow and create more and more blood vessels this week, you may notice changes in your symptoms - perhaps, the morning sickness is setteling down, and your energy is starting to renew itself... You might not experience any changes at all, though.

All About Your Baby

Wow! Your fetus will be around 2 inches long at the end of this week. Your little one certainly is growing rapidly!

Accomodating the growth of your baby, the placenta's blood vessels are starting to increase both in terms of number and size. This is great news for mom in the coming weeks.

Your baby's hair folicles are starting to form and its teeth are growing even more.

Fingernails and external genitals can be seen now. If you were to look carefully in an ultrasound, you might be able to see the little one open and close his or her fists.

Since your uterus is filling your entire pelvic region now, your baby has a lot of swimming room! He or she will tumble around in their little swimming pool while mom has no idea!

What Should You Do Now?

You may have your first checkup this week...What can you expect?

  • Urine Test
  • Blood pressure check
  • Weigh in
  • Palpation (feeling with hands) of your abdomen/uterus.
  • Some doctors will check for a heartbeat, but not all. Since it's still hard to find the heartbeat, a lot of doctors will avoid this until after the 12th week.

If you have any questions, be sure to write them down before you go in to see your doctor, just incase you forget!

Keep taking your prenatal vitamins and folic acid. If you haven't already, try increasing your calcium intake.
